Pull-Apart Pizza Rolls

We love our unique pizza appetizers in this family, like our Pull-Apart Pizza Bread, and today’s recipe is a fun update on that: a Pull-Apart Pizza Roll that is like a savory version of a cinnabun bun!

Pull-Apart Pizza Roll Recipe

Every Friday night in our house is family night.

We don’t make plans or accept invitations out anywhere. It’s just us, hanging out, enjoying some fun food, and sometimes a movie or a board game.

It’s become a bit of a tradition for us to experiment and make a fun pizza-themed recipe on those nights (except for once a month when we host our Disney Family Movie Nights, complete with themed menu). It’s always so fun to come up with a unique twist, and it’s also way cheaper than buying a take-out pizza.

(Plus, Friday night waits for take-out or delivery pizza are always way too long for my liking – I just want to get home and spend time with my family, not wait 30 minutes for a mediocre pizza.)

These pizza rolls are perfect for an appetizer, main course, as a party snack, or even a lunch box treat. They are fluffy, buttery and have all of those savory and cheesy pizza flavors you’d want in a traditional pizza recipe.

We paired them with a huge Caesar salad and homemade Cinnabuns (I freeze a few every time I make them so we can have them on low-key nights like this). You can serve them with extra pizza sauce, or check out one of our homemade Pizza Dipping Sauces.

You can make these pizza rolls the night before, so all you have to do is pop them in the oven when you get home.

These pizza rolls can also be frozen! Freeze in airtight freezer containers either before baking or after for up to two months. Allow to come to room temperature before baking. (This set of freezer containers is a crazy bargain.)

How to Make Pull-Apart Pizza Rolls

Preheat your oven to 350ºF.

Line a loaf pan or casserole dish with parchment paper and set aside. (You can just grease the pan instead of using parchment paper.)

Unroll your crescent or pizza dough on a cutting board.

Add the hot sauce and Italian seasoning to your tomato sauce and spread all over the dough, leaving about 1″ at the ends free of sauce.

Grate your cheese and sprinkle over the tomato sauce.

Top with pepperoni slices, or your choice of pizza toppings.

Roll the crescent doll into a log, lengthwise (long side to long side), as shown.

Use a sharp kitchen knife to cut the log into 2″ rolls.

Place the rolls in your prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

If the crescent rolls are browning too quickly on top, you can place a piece of tinfoil over the pan to stop the tops from burning.

Pull the parchment paper out of the pan and serve with your favorite pizza dipping sauce.
